Speak Your Mind

May 12, 2016

A study by the Media Insight Project recently found that perceptions of inaccuracy and bias are eroding Americans’ trust in the news media.

Only 6 percent of study respondents indicated they had a great deal of trust in people running news organizations. More than 40 percent had hardly any confidence at all in the media.

In the accompanying Speak Your Mind video, NIU journalism professors Andrea L. Guzman and Bill Cassidy in the Department of Communication discuss how the news media got into this mess—and what can be done to regain public trust. They also offer some tips for media consumers on how to recognize credible and objective news reports.
