Grab your beads and forget your troubles: Saturday afternoon unleashed a feast of crazy hats, colorful masks, festive dancers, enormous floating soap bubbles, face painting, rock ’n’ roll music and more to the streets of downtown DeKalb and the parking lot of the Visual Arts Building.
It was ARTIgras, an annual celebration of the arts.
Festivities kicked off Friday night with the new “March to Bourbon Street,” which transported the New Orleans experience to DeKalb’s Egyptian Theatre with roaming performers, live visual artists, art on display and a variety of live performances, including music from local jazz musicians.
Day Two began with the arts parade, which marched to a parking lot full of crafts and activities as well as numerous gallery showings and some acapella harmonies inside the Visual Arts Building.
