April 8, 2016

“Mentoring,” Vice Provost Anne Birberick said, “is deeply tied to student career success.”

To advance that concept, University Honors hosted a Huskie Mentoring Summit earlier this month. More than 125 students participated in the April 2 summit at the Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center.

Students said they appreciated opportunity to learn how be better mentors and mentees. “It’s important to be concerned about other people. That’s what mentorship is all about,” said summit participant Oleg Grachev, finance and economics major.

Co-sponsors for the event included the Honors House, Career Services and the Student-Alumni Mentoring Program. For more information about student mentoring, call (815) 753-1641 or email careerservices@niu.edu.
