Whether on stage or in the classroom, Paul Kassel shines. An acclaimed professional actor, director, and writer, Kassel is currently the dean of Northern Illinois University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts, and a member of Actors’ Equity Association and the Screen Actors’ Guild/American Federation of Radio and Television Artists.
When it comes to stage productions, professional road shows touring in Chicago, acting in film and television and issues about improvisation and actor training, Kassel is poised to lend his expertise. Most recently, he played the role of Hucklebee in Half Moon Theatre Company’s production of “The Fantastiks!” in New York. In addition to authoring “Acting: An Introduction to the Art and Craft of Playing,” Kassel is currently working on a second book and has written several articles and many conference presentations on acting and performance theory.
He earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from Florida State University’s Asolo Conservatory for Professional Actor Training and a bachelor’s degree from Miami University of Ohio.
