Lynne M. Thomas
Don’t judge a book by its cover, because even dime novels are due some respect, says Lynne Thomas. For more than a decade, the four-time Hugo Award winner has been the head of Distinctive Collections and curator of Rare Books and Special Collections at Northern Illinois University, where she is responsible for popular culture special collections including papers of science fiction authors, dime novels and popular historical children’s literature.

She is the co-author of “Special Collections 2.0,” and co-editor of “New Directions for Special Collections: An Anthology of Practice.” Along with her husband, Michael Damian Thomas, she is the co-editor and publisher of the Hugo Award-winning Uncanny Magazine. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Smith College, and master’s degrees from both the University of Illinois and Northern Illinois University.
