Gregory Barrett

Whether on stage or in the classroom, Gregory Barrett is an internationally respected clarinetist and educator. Having performed in China, Finland, Japan and throughout the U.S., the current Northern Illinois University professor most recently performed with the Chicago Sinfonietta and the Ars Viva Symphony Orchestra.

Barrett earned a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, a master’s from the State University of New York – Buffalo and a doctorate degree from Indiana University. He has been active in the International Clarinet Association, serving as Illinois State Chair, judge, performer, reviewer and research presenter, and is currently the editor of the association’s music reviews. In addition, In addition, the French publisher Billaudot recently released composition “24 Clarinet Etudes from the World.”
