Artemus Ward bleeds red, white and blue. The professor of political science at Northern Illinois University is a respected expert on U.S. politics, and he has done extensive research on topics related to the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. government. An avid Chicago Cubs fan, he also teaches a course on politics and baseball and is extremely knowledgeable about the game’s history, particularly as it relates to legal issues.
Ward received his bachelor’s degree from California State University, and master’s degree and doctorate degree from Syracuse University. He worked as a staffer on the House Judiciary Committee in Washington, D.C. His research has made him a sought after expert, and he has been featured on NBC Nightly News, Fox News, C-SPAN and in the New York Times, Associated Press and the New Republic. He is a two-time award-winner of the Hughes-Gossett Prize for historical excellence by the Supreme Court Historical Society. He is an accomplished author and respected expert who frequently offers experiential learning courses in the state’s capitol and summer study abroad courses at Oxford University.
